Whooo hooooooooooooooooo! I got my engagement ring!!!
None of the pics I’ve taken has been able to do it justice… so here is a pic of it from the jeweller’s website:
Nope. Not diamonds, but very close! This stone is far more firely than a diamond. 😀 Instead of going for the traditional, I’ve been looking into this neat thing called Moissanite. It seems I often feel a drive to do things differently. 😉
Moissanite is slightly less hard than a diamond, but harder than a sapphire or ruby. Price-wise, they cost slightly less than diamonds, as far as I’ve seen in my window shopping. In nature, moissanite is found in meteor crash-sites. However, for the purpose of jewelry, moissanite is usually created in a lab. I love this idea of a high quality hand-made gem… it gives me less worries about blood diamonds, etc.
As one of the posters on FatGrrl (Morgan or Ellie… I’m way too happy to go try and figure out which one of them does this) often says when ridiculously happy:
SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it! It’s unique… it’s beautiful to me! And, I have one awesome man that I am going to marry. I think I’m just going to sit here and bask in the good feelings for a while…

PS: Cuz I know you’re going to ask, the wedding will be in August.
Congratulations! That is a gorgeous ring, too.
Congratulations, sister! I wish you perfect and complete happiness.
Very best wishes and every happiness to you and your mate!
It’s a beautiful ring, which is only fitting.
It sounds like your engagement period is just right in length.
Enjoy this time! Bask in love and good wishes!
Congratulations what a wonderful happy time for you 🙂 I have often marveled at how sparkley and firey Moissanite is I think you made a fantastic choice 😀

Thanks for much for the congrats and well wishes, friends. 🙂 It means a lot to me.
WRT2, I agree about the engagement period. I spent a really long time trying to decide how long would be a good period for me to get used to the idea of being engaged and fully ready to marry. 6 months feels like a little more time than I need, so I chose that to be on the safe side.
