Hehehehe… thank you so much, Carolyn. 😀
I checked out Linda’s site and I will soon be linking to it and the HAES pledge for all to sign, if they like. I think it’s an awesome pledge and I think it def deserves space on the blog.
My only delay is that I’ll be getting married on Sunday and I want to wait to sign the pledge until I have my new name…. otherwise I would’ve posted the pledge and signed it already.
At the moment, I have my bio-father’s last name… the man is an abusive whackjob and I cannot WAIT to get rid of his name. Whooo hoooo!
Plus… as the name change works out, I will be able to demand that others call me J-lo. Hah. No… my name won’t be Jennifer Lopez. I’ll reveal my new name after the wedding. Tee hee… exciting!
Omg! I Don’t blame you one bit!! My step father signed as a “witness” on my marriage license and it makes me want to rip the damn thing up every time I see it!! I cringe whenever I put “maiden name” on anything. It sort of makes me want to vomit.
And on that note OMG WEDDINGGGGGG!!!!!!! Congratulations!! Will you be posting any pictures? Not to rush or pressure you 🙂
Linda’s site is fantastic. I have signed the pledge! I am also re-reading her book at the moment. I am also reading “Nourishing Wisdom” By Marc David. It’s truly fantastic and much along the concept of HAES. Have you read his books? I don’t see much discussion of his work in the FA community – Not sure why.
I never have read any of Marc David’s book, but the title of Nourishing Wisdom sounds facinating. 😀 I will have to look it up.
I will def post some wedding pic. It prolly won’t look very weddingish though. 😉 We’re getting married at home and it’s gonna be t-shirts and shorts or jeans. Okay… so the tuxedo cat will be formally dressed, but when isn’t he formally dressed? Heh.
I’m at the library (MAJOR gronaning and wrist cutting!! except the kids are having a good time and we’ll take home some books) which means my Acer laptop is dead, dead, deadski!!
If anyone knows why it won’t power on for any reason or a number I could call, it would be greatly appreciated. I haven’t even had it a year and it won’t power on for anything. Any ideas on what it might be or similar experiences? I am TOTALLY gonna DIE!!!
I don’t know when I’d be able to check back, but anything would be very helpful!
My soon to be hubby is some kinda computer genius. As soon as he gets back from lunch, I’ll ask him for you. I have a feeling he’s going to tell me there are lots of potential reasons, but who knows… maybe he’ll have some other answer. I’m always bugging him about comp stuff.
Alrighty… he just had the exact same problem with his one year old laptop and says it’s prolly the same thing… it’s either the battery is messed up somehow (batteries are easy to replace) so that it can’t get or keep a charge or the motherboard is messed up (in which case you need a whole new computer). He says these are possible in the case you can’t get any lights to light up on your computer or anything like that.
I got my fingers crossed for you that it’s just the battery.
I’m at home and am proudly wearing off some shorts I thrifted today for £2.50. They had been altered so they were really short, but I got out my trusty seam ripper and now have a fab pair of denim shorts for summer. Only thing I’ve found in my size all week.
If it ever stops raining that is.
Also, I usually don’t like beyonce songs, but I’m liking her spanish language versions of her hits.
I’m having philosophical thoughts about the community we used to be a part of. And how things changed. I think we all felt isolated there at the end. Like we’d been fighting in a war and suddenly realised that our side had changed to become the “bad guys”. Do you know what I mean?
Now look at this place. Look how far you’ve come. You probably wouldn’t have done this if we hadn’t had the landscape of our previous community changed on us but look how great this is. Far better than the old community had the power to become.
Changes, loneliness, isolation and even ostracisation (yes, I just made that word up) have led to this. I’ll try and remember that next time I’m struggling with some external negativity. I’ll try and think of it as a catalyst, encouraging me to take the next step in my bigger picture progress.
I love your comment, Sophie, and I agree with your analysis of things. It was really weird to me how things seemed to do a 180 all of a sudden.
I remember some Buddhist teaching that we cannot have the good things in life without the bad and I try to remember that… though in the midst of intimidating circumstances it can be difficult. Though, I’ve found with practice it gets easier.
Maybe the next time we get all frustrated and feel alienated and all that we can remind ourselves of what leaving that community (and feeling pushed out of it — in fact, being told it would be best if I quit) has brought… amazing and lovely things!!
Thanks so much for the info on the laptop. Thankfully it’s still under warranty and will send it off on Saturday when the $$$ comes in. Thanks for the good wishes, too. Have a great day!
Can I just put up a second WHOOOO HOOOOO to the fact that Linda Bacon called your post “Awesome”?! Oh yeah AGR!!
Hehehehe… thank you so much, Carolyn. 😀
