I will start! 😀
I just finished a beautiful work of fiction. For those of you who like a lovely story, I recommend “The Shadow of the Wind.”
After several night of super crappy sleep, I slept well last night. Whooo hoooooooooo!!
Yesterday, I rediscovered my love of National Geographic magazine. 😀 There was one in my therapists office and I was completely drawn in by all the beautiful photos. Apparently I am also rediscovering what a visual creature I am. My grandfather used to collect NG mags and I used to love those magazines. I think it is time I start a collection of my own. Nature photos rock my world.
Last small ramble… Rachel Maddow from MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show is freakin’ brilliant.
I kknow I already put this in the “Contact Us” section but I think it bears repeating;
Can drilling electrodes into your brain help you lose weight?
“With obese patients, the idea is to target the hypothalamus, the area of the brain which controls our desire to eat. Basically it works by making the patient feel full.
The new approach is being tested in a U.S. Government-approved trial, which is running for three years.
During the procedure, patients first have holes drilled into their skull. The electrodes are then implanted – these are attached to wires, which are fed across the surface of the brain and under the skin to a small battery implanted under the collarbone.”
I caught the last five minutes of “More to Love’s” second episode while waiting for the news to come on. The girls cried when they got sent home. The girls cried when they realized they would be staying. And in the previews for next week’s show, one contestant was crying while being interviewed and another was crying while others were trying to help zip up her gown.
Call me crazy, but I didn’t feel any empowerment coming from this show.
LOL
Sadly, I bet a lot of people would line up for lobotomies if it would finally make them THIN. Cuz… ya know… thin fixes everything. Who needs frontal lobes?
I don’t have any actual plans yet. Some friends and I are going to get together in the evening and just play it by ear. Probably grab a bite to eat and then go wreak some havoc (wreaking havoc is our code phrase for hanging out).

Now if someone would just put in this much effort into AIDS or Juvenile Diabetes and the like.

Oh really?
Why not target the frontal lobes and bring back the lobotomy?
LOL

I also loved The Shadow of the Wind and I just broke down and paid 4 euros for a National Geographic!! 🙂 love that stuff!

@ wriggles:
Can’t do that. Don’t want to have zombies running around everywhere. After all, who’d do the skilled labor we need to keep our economy solvent.
Oh. Wait. Yeah…
Woo, open thread!
I have nothing of substance to add; I just came by to say that my birthday is on Saturday. 🙂
Happy Birthday, Charlotte!!! I hope you have a lovely Saturday and a lovely year to come!
I hope you have a really happy birthday, Charlotte, and some great stuff coming your way.
Yom Huledet Sameach!
Happy Birthday Charlotte. Do you have any exciting plans?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone! 🙂
