Wednesday is here! Well… almost here. I’m throwing the open thread up the evening before since I have somewhere to be early tomorrow and I doubt I’ll be awake and aware enough before I go to even remember to post the openness. 😀
Have at it!

Oh goody!
Here’s a health initiative I can get behind; a community group is taking fresh fruits and veggies to food deserts in Detroit. Yay!

So, Saturday was my birthday, and it was awesome! My friends threw me a lovely party. There was lots of purple involved (my favorite color), and I got to wear a tiara! 🙂 I got fun gifts like purple measuring spoons/cups, and a super comfy purple throw blanket.
I’ve been 24 for a couple of days now, and so far, I like it. 🙂
Hi!
I am going to briefly rant here.
I am really tired — I took a short nap before dinner and I’m feeling much better, but I noticed that the negative self-talk is just so amplified when I’m this tired.
I am sick and tired of people being mean, myself included.
I wonder how I can be so hypocritical — it’s not hard for me to see how amazing and beautiful other people are and can be, but my own brain is just so mean towards me.
I want chocolate.
My hips really hurt — I think I need to take a break from dancing and go swimming instead.
I posted a short rant about the PETA billboards on my Xanga blog.
Okay, I think that’s enough whining for now.
Something really good — where I live the hydrangeas are blooming like crazy, and my friend gave me a bunch, which I brought with me to work today, and they look amazing. I love living in a place with such bountiful and beautiful flowers from early spring through the fall.
Oh, and I made a super-yummy blackberry crisp with blackberries from the same friend and ate the leftovers today. Yum!
I’m still half-asleep, but I feel like typing a bit anyway….
I got that bookstore job and I started Monday. This week is super-busy and tiring, because there is all this training stuff, but next week I will be on my no more than 18 hour a week part-time schedule. So…next week, I will be back on the blogging horse. This week I’m just trying not to go completely postal due to the horrible insult of intelligence a 20 minute training exercise on hand-washing is. @#$@#$@#$^^^^!@!@$@#$!!!!!#%^%^!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully once the training is over all the painful condescension will end. The job itself seems like something fun to do to get out of the house. I like the idea of having a job that is actually physical. It will get me out of the house and talking to people and that is the real goal.
I think I’ve had at least one post-worthy breakthrough this week that I hope will get posted about next week, because I will have the time, but also because the ideas didn’t flame-out and still seem helpful and relevant. We shall see…
The landlord behaved like an idiot a few days ago and I have told him to deal with me no longer and go straight to hubby. The landlord moron is apparently very triggered by women… dude was like throwing a tantrum at me on our porch, because I didn’t just submit to what he wanted. He’s lucky I didn’t throw something at his head to drive him off my damn porch… grrrrrr…
In related news, Mr. Orange (our stray cat that we feed) REALLY NEEDS A HOME. We’ll be soon taking him to the vet to get his vacinations updated and to get him checked over. Getting him to the vet, we are told, will expedite his admission into a no-kill shelter. On top of that, we are willing to make a donation to whatever shelter will take him… $200 or $300… even with the bribe and our wilingness to do whatever medical stuff is necessary, the shelters STILL tell me we will have to wait at least a month. It’s frustrating… we really want to get him somewhere safe before the landlord moron does something stupid to the stray cat that he so hates for no rational reason… sigh…
I can understand the way your landlord feels.
Stray cats can damage property, and I myself have taken a relatively friendly cat to a shelter because I caught it doing its business in my small but well-kept garden – for the umpteenth time. I just got tired of scaring it off.
Stray cats can also make other stray cats pregnant – which makes more stray cats, and creates “kitten season”. A large part of the problem is people letting their unfixed cats out for the night. If you have a HOUSEpet, then it stays in the HOUSE – where it can do no damage to others’ property and possessions.
They also dig through garbage, fight, and being unvaccinated – they can also spread disease.
I do have to add that I don’t particularly like cats. I don’t mind a well-kept friendly housecat, I just don’t want them in MY house.
AGR, it is awesome that there are people out there like you that will take the burden of getting it medically checked out – many wouldn’t do that. I can say that I would do that for a dog, but cats just don’t pull my heart strings like dogs seem to do.
I hope you’re able to find him a great home. It sounds like he’ll make someone a great pet.
