Mr. Orange (as posted about here) has finally been captured. Sheesh he has been one hard character to catch!
I suspect, given his behavior since we caught him (a few minutes ago) that he’s far too feral to go into anyone’s home. Sigh. However, I know that there are feral cat colonies in the Chicago area and maybe I can get him adopted into one of those. At least if he lived in a feral colony, I know he would be getting regular food and emergency care. So, tomorrow I will be calling around trying to get Mr. Orange into a feral colony. I know a couple who takes care of a feral colony right by their home and maybe they’d take Mr. Orange if hubby and I committed to helping them pay for food for the colony. It’s worth trying for anyway… If they can’t take him, maybe they’ll know someone with a feral colony who can take Mr. O in. The Chicago winter is a crappy place for a kitty to be out on the streets all by himself.
Wish us luck in finding Mr. Orange a safe place to call home soon.

What a cutie. I didn’t even know such colonies existed. I will hope for the best for all of you.
Aw, he’s cute. I had no idea they had colonies for feral cats; what a good idea. I hope everything turns out okay for him.
U..have a giant…HEART!!
The next time I get impatient and/or aggravated with these kids and/or Hubby, I will think of you..
🙂
Yay for you & Mr Orange 🙂
He looks adorable, I am glad you finally managed to rescue him. I think the cat I adopted was a bit feral when I got him but he totally worked his way into our hearts and home. I am so glad that there are places like the feral colonies that can keep them healthy without trying to break them of that spirit. So glad Mr. Orange has you to look after him!
Thank you so much for your kind words, friends. 😀
Charlotte, JennyRose, Big Liberty, Hot Momma, Scattered Marbles – thank you so much. I can use the positive vibes right now. I’ve never tried to find a home for any animal – let alone a feral cat and I’m a little intimidated. But… I’m also determined to find this cat a good place and to make sure a perfectly sweet cat isn’t euthanized just cuz he didn’t get socialized when he was a kitten (if kittens don’t spend a significant amount of time with humans before they are 8 – 12 weeks old they are pretty much fated to become feral cats that have no idea how to deal with humans and are terrified of them…).
I did a little research and found that the Chicago area has over 100 feral cat colonies and several dozen of those are affiliated with a cat shelter where I got all my furries and continue to make regular donations to. I still chit chat now and then with some of the folks at that org, so maybe they can point me in the right direction.
Scattered Marbles – Oh… I wish, I wish, I wish that I could find a family that wouldn’t mind taking in a fearful feral. Even if he never became a pettable cat, I think he could easily become a great companion cat to someone’s existing house cat. He’s really gentle and docile with cats. Maybe I should try to market him to fams as well as try to find him a feral colony. I wish I could read his mind and ask him where he’d be happier….
Hot Momma – thank you very much for your kind words. I’m no angel, but where I can do some good, I try… hopefully that makes up for all the times I lose my temper and get snarly at hubby.
For anyone interested in Feral advocacy and all that… here’s a great link that I found tonight…

They even have volunteer programs to work with ferals… maybe I’ll sign up! I have a ridiculous soft spot for animals. 😉
He is a beautiful cat!
angrygrayrainbows: if only I lived in the U.S. (and had a landlord who allowed pets, but that’s a separate issue). I would totally adopt a fearful feral –my parents have done that at least twice, once when I was growing up and once while I was in college (they still have that cat). And it’s cats like that that I’m most drawn to, for some reason.
