Mr. Orange needs your help!
Despite our efforts to get him admitted into a no-kill shelter, we are still on hold and the landlord is becoming more and more of an idiot. He has gone so far as to threaten to trap the cat himself and take him to a kill shelter or a forest or who knows where. I am more angry about this landlord moron than words an express…. sigh…
Above is a pic I got of our little guy a few days ago. He now shows up twice a day for meals and he’s starting to develop a cute little belly now that he’s getting regular food. He’s still a little shy, but I think he would get to love and accept pets from his caretaker. He is awesome with other cats. I will post two more pics of him at the end of the post…
To try to expedite getting him into a no-kill shelter, we have offered to first take him to the vet and get him neutered, get his shots all up-to-date and see what medical issues there might be (so far, he has always looked really healthy and lovely… and lovelier by the day with regular meals). We have even offered to make a donation of a couple hundred bucks to whatever no-kill shelter will take him… still we are told that we will have to wait until after kitten season.
If anyone would like to look into adopting Mr. Orange, please reply to this post or email AngryGrayRainbows@gmail.com and I will get back to you. If we had serious interest, we would be willing to take him to the vet and get him checked out and pass that info on to potential adopters. Our offer to neuter him (if needed… and I don’t think he does, cuz I think he’s already “fixed”) and get his shots updated stands. Mr. Orange lives in Chicago, but we would be willing to drive quite a ways out of our way if we could find him a good home…. something like a 500 mile radius. Adoptors would have to promise to relenquish Mr. Orange to a no-kill shelter or back to me, if things don’t work out. We don’t want him back on the street or in a kill-shelter and we are willing to work to make sure that is the case.
Because he is slightly shy with humans, he would be ideal for a person who already has one cat, but would like a companion for the cat they already have . He is especially good with a laid-back and gentle cat. He loves to sit for hours on end with Abilene and he never hisses or bats at her like all the other cats do. Mr. Orange would be a great friend for a cat with a gentle soul.
Here are some more shots of the adorableness that is Mr. Orange. Can you help a little marmalade boy out? He has the most adorable little rings around the back half of his tail… he’s so lovely… and if we didn’t have four cats already and a demand from our landlord that we take no more, he would have a home with us.
He noms his dinner so delicately. He’s such a muffin. He just breaks my heart.

Unfortunately I live in boston, which seems to be too far away. we have ‘adopted’ two feral outdoor cats so far (their mother brought them to us as kittens because we fed her, one never comes inside but is becoming more relaxed in our yard with us, one comes inside a lot and has been given all his shots by our awesome vet) and it has been wonderful. we’d love another little guy like mr orange.
I hope things work out and you find a home for him. and i wish i could come over there and smack all the stupid outta your landlord. geez. what a meanie.
Aww, what a doll. I really hope you find a home for him, I’m a lot further than 500 miles from Chicago. 😦
You should bring him to Anti-Cruelty. Granted they are not a no-kill shelter, but as long as Mr Orange is healthy (aka no rabies or horribly infectious diseases) and has friendly tendencies, they will put him up for adoption. The people that work there are fantastic and will go out of their way to get him into a happy home.
The best part is that they ask no questions when you bring the cat in, so you know he will be admitted with open arms so he can get off the streets.
Oh my…I love him. If I thought that my dog might be able to handle it…I love orange kitties so much!
Gah that posted too soon!
I wanted to add that I hope you find a home for him or at least a shelter to take him in.
And I hope your landlord comes down with a non-life threatening bug that keeps him in bed for a few days so that he doesn’t interfere. What a jerk!
If I wasn’t in California with a kitty who is only happy as an only cat, I would totally snatch Mr. Orange up. He’s adorable. I wish I could help.
Did you try the Animal Care League in Oak Park? I don’t know for sure that they have space, but it might be worth a shot.
I’d love to take a cutie like him in, but unfortunately, we’re at full pet capacity here.
Yay! Thank you so much for your kind words and suggestions. Frankly, it is just nice to know I’m not the only one worrying about our little stray.
Due to a kind person (for anonimity’s sake, I’m not going to disclose real names unless those people tell me that I can) who posted about Mr. Orange on their Facebook page, I have a strong lead that hopefully will lead to Mr. Orange getting a spot in a great no-kill program. Whooo hoooooo!!!!
Hubby and I have already set-up a trap-like set-up on the front porch to capture our little friend, because he has an appointment to go to the vet to get all his shots, get tested for FLV and FIV and make sure that he’s neutered (and neuter him if he’s not… but I think he is…). Potentially (if he is neutered already, doesn’t have FLV and otherwise doesn’t have sickness symptoms), he could go to the shelter Monday after his appointment. Keep your fingers crossed for us! If all goes well on Monday, I will put up a fresh post detailing the good news. Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!
